Bernhard Hammig Boehm Flute Makers: A company history rich in tradition
Making musical instruments is a tradition in our family that date back 300 years.
The first member of the family to specialised in making Boehm flutes was my great-grandfather,
August-Richard Hammig, who set up his own workshop in Markneukirchen in 1906. In 1951 my
grandfather Johannes Hammig founded the current flute workshop in Freiburg.
Very soon our tuneful instruments were enjoying considerable popularity with many of the great flutists and orchestras, includingthe Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic ..., Severino Gazzelloni, Karl-Heinz Zoeller and GustavScheck .... In just a few years, we had become one of the leading manufacturers of Boehm concert flutes in the world.
Since taking over the family business in 1996, I have carried on this rich tradition. My name, Bernhard Hammig, now stands as a guarantee of the quality and unique sound of every instrument that we make.
